Everyday life is a beautiful trip!

Memory lane

We went on a ride today, a ride down memory lane and it was wonderful! {M} and I started out going to the congregation of our church which we used to be part of while living here. A lot has changed, it has grown immensely and we didn’t know most of the people there. Fortunately the one person I was hoping to see was there and after twenty years of not seeing each other it was as if I went back it time. No words can describe what I felt and it made our visit even more meaningful.

We went back to the hotel to pick up {J} for lunch and to continue our drive down memory lane. We had some great food at Chili’s and continued on to drive by our old home. We bought the house in 2000 from my grandparents and brought {J} home from the hospital there. We had all our family come over from the Netherlands at various times there. Our dads built {J} a playpen right in the garage together. My mom had sent us Nijntje wallpaper to decorate the nursery with. So many memories are flooding back to us. We continued driving around the neighborhood to come to the conclusion that not a whole lot has changed, it was fun to recognize a lot of the area. We ended the long drive by visiting the (parking lot of the) hospital where {J} was born. To drive there with the three of us was really something special I can’t quite put into words, I am really trying here, but I just can’t.

What I can say is that being here is doing wonders for me in a couple different ways and I am looking forward to coming back here soon.
