Many times have I seen pictures of Manhattan or scenes of it in movies or series, but we have never actually been there. Last Saturday on our way to upstate New York we drove through the Big Apple and had the pleasure of viewing it from a distance. And wow what a view it was! {M} and I had not expected to be so taken aback by its impressiveness, I really have no words to describe what I felt driving over the George Washington bridge and seeing the skyline. I am looking forward to coming back to the city next week and actually walk the sidewalks and visit the sites, with {J} as our guide.
Seeing the skyline for myself was such a different experience than seeing it on screen or in pictures. It made me think of how I can have an idea of how something must feel when I have seen someone go through something, but it is quite something else when I experience it for myself, good or bad. It helps me realize I shouldn’t judge (at all), just because I think I know how something feels having seen people go through it. There is room for improvement here!
